New Chevy Low Cab Forward Trucks Shipping to Dealerships

GM Fleet Trucks

The new Chevy low cab forward trucks, which GM announced over a year ago, are shipping out to dealerships this week. Chevy partnered with Isuzu to develop the new line of six trucks, which will be called the 3500, 4500, and 5500, along with HD versions, and are based on the Isuzu N-Series.

Chevy left the low cab forward truck market a while ago but decided to rejoin in order to diversify its commercial <a href="http://www preis viagra”>lineup and offer more options to customers. GM Fleet US Vice President Ed Peper said these trucks are the answer for customers who need “expansive payload, cargo-hauling capabilities, and exceptional maneuverability.”

The Chevy low cab forward is designed for better safety, with a Cab Over design that allows for more visibility and a tight turning radius for safer and easier hauling in cities.

There are a variety of available engines, including a 6.0-liter V8, a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel, and a 5.2-liter turbo-diesel. The trucks will start at $40,900 for gasoline models, with diesel models starting at $48,375. Chevy says that what will really set the low cab forward trucks apart is the easy access through a “nationwide network of Chevrolet commercial dealers,” as well as being comfortable and easy to drive.

Simple Tips on How to Avoid Texting and Driving

texting while drivingNo matter how many “stay alive” stickers you see, it’s hard to resist the temptation to text and drive. Just like talking on our cell phones while we were driving in the days of yesteryear–when we still talked on the phone–texting while driving is a dangerous distraction that we should all avoid.

While talking and driving is a big problem (Mythbusters even did an episode about it comparing it to drunk driving), people can use Bluetooth or their car’s speaker system to keep both hands on the wheel. Technology has come pretty far, and a lot of new cars are equipped with cool features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which let you use voice commands to reply to texts through your car. If you have these, great! Use them instead of texting.

If you don’t, there are still plenty of alternatives to texting and driving. The best thing to do is put your phone on silent and put it away somewhere you won’t be tempted to reach for it while you’re driving. Out of sight, out of mind. If you really need it on you for emergencies—for parents this is especially understandable—download a text to speech app for your phone so you can listen to and reply to texts without looking away from the road.

You can also set up auto-reply before you start driving that will respond to any messages you get with the message you set up, like letting them know you’re driving and can’t respond. If it’s really that urgent, pull over! Nothing is more important than your life.

Woodward Dream Cruise

The Chevrolet Camaro is one of the most iconic muscle cars available on the market. Now in its sixth generation, the Camaro just recently passed its 50th birthday, and in celebration for hitting such a memorable milestone, Chevy is including the birthday festivities in the upcoming Woodward Dream Cruise starting on August 18th.

The weekend kicks off with a 7:00am to 3:30pm event at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant, which is the plant in charge of building the Camaro. With available parking exclusively for Camaro owners, 50th-anniversary merchandise, available food, a car show, a heritage display, and more, the event is designed to cater to Camaro owners.

This will be followed up the next day by a Camaros and Coffee event at the nearby Joe Louis Arena Riverfront, beginning at 7:30am. Parking will be available for 500 cars, and at 9:45am, everyone participating will rev their engines and follow the 50th Anniversary Camaros to the location of Woodward Avenue for a preemptive promenade.

The Woodward Dream Cruise itself will take place on August 20th, and Chevrolet is preparing with a heritage display of classic Camaros throughout the years, including brand-new 2017 Camaro models. The new ZL1 and 1LE variants are among the Camaros that are scheduled to be displayed.

Rent a Plot at the New Barron Community Garden

Barron Community GardenThe Barron Community Garden recently opened this past May, encouraging teamwork among members of Barron County in Wisconsin. What is a community garden? The dictionary definition is “a plot of land gardened by members of a community,” and the Barron area aims to achieve exactly that in order to provide residents access to affordable, but healthy food and ingredients, as well as an opportunity for fresh air and exercise. The community garden is a source of pride for Barron.

While all signups for plots were done on May 21st, some plots for this growing season may still be available, and if not, you can sign up to be put on a waiting list. The garden offers 20 plots, each plot is 20 feet by 20 feet, and the plots of land are only $15 to rent for the entire growing season.

While the growing season is over halfway done at this point, land will be available again next year, giving newcomers an opportunity to participate in this welcoming public space, which is open to all members of the community.

The new Barron Community Garden was created to bring together the residents of Barron County in a way that is productive, nutritious, and creates a beautiful public landmark with a purpose. A sensory garden and wheelchair access are also available so that everyone may feel included.

It wasn’t long ago that General Motors bought Cruise Automotive for a whopping $1 billion. Shortly after, we learned that the company would be partnering with ridesharing company Lyft. With a $500 million investment in Lyft, its clear General Motors is serious about the development of autonomous vehicles. Now the company has announced yet another step forward to a self-driving future.

If you wander over to Cruise Automation’s website, all you’ll find is a single picture of a Chevrolet Bolt. This isn’t just any Bolt though. This is a self-driving Chevrolet Bolt and, even better, the technology is undergoing testing on the streets of San Francisco.

The Bolt models are occupied according to California law and Lyft has confirmed it will begin testing an entire fleet of autonomous vehicles by the end of 2017. The transition will be slow but steady according to Taggart Mattheisen, director of product at Lyft.

“At first we’re talking about a very small number of vehicles,” he said. “You’d start with a handful and slowly increase the supply as you gain confidence. Safety is paramount.”

That’s good news for ridesharing customers. Given that the Bolt is an electric vehicle and combined with the autonomous technology, we very well could be looking at the cars of the future!

Here at Swant Graber Chevrolet, we’re excited to see how the self-driving Chevrolet Bolt performs!

Preparing for Summer Road Trips

Summer Road Trips

Taking a summer road trip is a fantastic, memory-making part of the season. A staple in many families, road trips come with their ups and downs. Preparing for a summer road trip can help eliminate quite a few of those downs. Here are some helpful hints in preparing for this year’s summer road trip from us here at Swant Graber Chevrolet!

  1. Cash – Not every gas station takes credit cards and the last place you want to be stuck is in the middle of nowhere with no fuel. That’s why keeping some cash on-hand is a great way to ensure you can afford what you need without a credit card. Having cash is also great for any random purchases you make along the road.
  2. Hydration – While you might not be running, staying hydrated is still an incredibly important part of driving. Facing fatigue due to dehydration on a bustling highway is the last thing any driver wants to experience. Make sure to stock up on plenty of water before you leave home!
  3. Tires – Before you leave home, make sure your tires are properly inflated in order to get the most out of your time on the road. Checking for even wear and ensuring you have enough tread for proper traction isn’t a bad idea either!

Chevrolet Malibu Teen Driver Technology a Hit

Teen Driver technology

Teen drivers are famous for giving their parents a migraine. Whether they’re learning how to drive, packing all their friends in the backseat for a night out, or speeding because they’re late to school, young drivers are prone to accidents just because they’re less experienced and more easily distracted. However, Chevrolet says the new Teen Driver technology in the Chevrolet Malibu will help keep kids safe and give their parents peace of mind through a slew of features and capabilities, which allow parents to monitor and track their child while they’re on the road.

The Chevrolet Malibu, redesigned for the 2016 model year to include a number of impressive modern safety systems and features, allows parents to access information about their teen driver through an app. Features of the Teen Driver tech include an inability to play music on the radio until seatbelts are fastened, as well as periodic status reports that inform parents of their child’s max speed, the distance they have traveled, and how often the front-collision sensor goes off.

So far, the technology has received positive reviews from professionals and parents alike. Parents are likely happy with the fact that they can use the Teen Driver app to set restrictions on the distance their teenager is allowed to travel, as well as a curfew. If either of those restrictions are violated, the parent with access to the app will be notified at once.

The Chevrolet Malibu has many other capabilities besides Teen Driver technology, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software that allows smartphone users to connect their phone to their car while using an interface that is familiar to them and comes with unique features. However, the Malibu is also the first vehicle in Chevy’s lineup to offer this sort of technology, and judging from the response, we may be seeing Teen Driver tech in new Chevrolets as they come out.

A Few Ideas for Memorial Day

ideas for memorial day

Memorial Day is approaching! Still planning your day? Here are a few ideas for Memorial Day.

While some people may have forgotten the reason for this holiday, Memorial Day was originally intended to be a day we could set aside to remember those who have served the United States armed forces. A great way to honor the brave soldiers who have passed away defending our freedom is to honor the living. Visit a VA hospital. Patients there would love to hear of your appreciation for the sacrifices they’ve made.

For appropriate-aged children, a visit to a military cemetery can make a profound and touching lesson about the sacrifices that certain members of the United States armed forces have made in the name of freedom.

After you’ve made your rounds and done the right thing, why not celebrate the day with a classic Memorial Day cookout? The smell of charred meat, the radio cranked to a classic rock station, and Uncle Bob stumbling around after too many cheap brewskies–this is Memorial Day in America.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and a day of relaxation. It’s also a way to welcome the coming warmer weather. Enjoy it no matter what you do! What do you do to celebrate Memorial Day in Barron, WI?

Chevrolet Warranty Not Void If You Burn Rubber at the Track

Chevrolet Warranty

Chevrolet has been in the car business for over a hundred years. In that time, the automaker has created a lot of “industry-first” automotive technologies and design features. Now Chevrolet can add warranty innovations to that list!

Typically, an automaker will not honor a warranty on one of its vehicles if that vehicle has been to the track. This is even true for performance vehicles. Road and Track recounts a time when Mitsubishi experienced a public relations debacle when many owners of one of its performance models were seeing their warranties denied after they had raced them.

The genius behind the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, was recently explained by Motor Authority, as Al Oppenheiser very clearly affirmed that a production model Camaro will not see its warranty denied if it’s been raced. The only caveat being that the vehicle could not have been modified if the Chevrolet warranty were to remain intact.

Very simply, Oppenheiser said “If you’re not modifying your car and you take your production car to a track day and you have an issue with one of your parts, it’s covered under warranty.”
